Two killed in gas exposure incident at Jharkhand steel plant

Ranchi: Two people died following gas exposure at the ESL Steel plant in Jharkhand’s Bokaro district on Sunday, a company official said.

The steelmaker will conduct an independent investigation into the incident and take appropriate action based on its findings, the official said.

“An unfortunate incident involving gas exposure occurred in the plant, in which an executive of the company and a business partner engineer lost their lives,” an ESL spokesperson said.

ESL Steel Limited, Bokaro, is a subsidiary of Vedanta Iron & Steel Limited (VISL).

The spokesperson did not provide further details about the incident or disclose the identities of the deceased.
